Egyptian Falafel

Egyptian Falafel

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Organic Falafel Mix
  • 1 Handful of fresh herbs (e.g.. parsley, coriander, mint)
  • 1/2 Onion
  • Water
Method:
  1. Place all ingredients, except water, in a food processor and blend well.
  2. Carefully add water to the blender to create a thick paste or mix.
  3. Allow to sit for 15 minutes.
  4. Press firmly together into walnut sized spoonfuls and fry gently in oil, turning when golden.

Variation:

Add 2 cups of grated cauliflower to the above mix, with a little more water if the mix seems crumbly.

Serving Suggestion:

  • Falafel is traditionally served in pita bread sandwiches.
  • Cut a pita pocket in half and fill with falafel balls, slices of cucumber, tomato, red onion, chopped parsley and mint, then drizzle the fillings with yoghurt sauce.

  • 1/2 tsp garlic (finely chopped)
  • 3 tbs tahini paste
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
